William Charles Raper

William Charles “Bill Raper of Gardendale was born on June 25, 1950 and died December 21, 2016 of complications from a hard fought battle with muscular dystrophy. He was the only son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Chester L. Raper. He graduated from Hokes Bluff High School in 1968 and attended Gadsden State. He is survived by his sister Bobbie Andrews and her husband Jim, his devoted caregiving nephew, David Andrews and his wife April; his nephew Sid Andrews and his wife Carla of Waynesboro, MS. Several nieces and a nephew also survived him. Bill was a loyal Alabama football fan, a lover of the Beatles and their music, a computer whiz, an avid birdwatcher and an artist. Most of all, however, he loved his extraordinary cousins with whom he shared a special bond and who have showered Bill with their unselfish love and strong emotional support over the years.

Services will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Friday, December 23, 2016 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm followed by a graveside service at 2:00pm in Oakwood memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL. Rev. Mike Pope of Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church officiating.
