

Arlon George Cobb passed away on December 18, 2017 at the age of 78 in Cedar Park, Texas. Arlon was born July 15, 1939 to Arlon Gary Cobb and Malitta Froelich in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Mountain Valley Elementary school (a one room school house) in Sattler, TX. He also worked as a pen setup boy for the 9-pen bowling alley in Sattler in his youth. When he was in the ninth grade his family moved to New Braunfels, TX where he graduated from New Braunfels High School. While in high school he worked at the Brauntex Movie Theater and H-E-B; after graduation he joined the Army National Guard and then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Germany, France, Washington D.C. and Colorado. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He attended St. Helen Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his younger days he enjoyed dancing to Country Western and Polka music. When the family went camping at Goose Island State Park he was the designated camp guard because he didn’t like to go fishing. In his later years he enjoyed nothing better than watching the Texas Rangers and Cowboys on TV, listening to Polka music and watching his grandchildren play sports.He is survived by his wife of 49 years Carolyn Kuehler Cobb of Georgetown, daughter LeAnn Bennett of Austin and two grandchildren, William and Lauren Bennett of Austin. Siblings include Arlene Ross, Donald Guenther and wife Donna of New Braunfels; half brothers and sister Aaron Cobb of New Mexico, Daryl Cobb of Colorado, Sharon Cobb of Illinois and Kelvin Cobb of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents and step father Arno Guenther.A visitation with the family will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, from 6-8 pm with the rosary beginning at 7 pm. The funeral mass will take place at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10 am, the burial will follow at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, also in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Helen Vincent DePaul or a charity of your choice.
