Getting to meet, know, and love Brian was, and always will be, the best part of my life. He was my best friend, my joy, my soulmate, my love, my protector, my safe place, my calm, and the peace in my heart. I was blessed to know and love the brightest light and most beautiful spirit I could ever imagine. I am a much better person, and this world is a far better place, in every way because he was here.

Brian - I will love you forever, in this world and the next.

My time working with Brian was short compared to many others. But I enjoyed working with him & feel blessed to have the opportunity to get acquainted with Brian. He was a kind hearted man & many of the staff who knew him will miss him & are saddened by his passing. May God's peace & comfort be with his family.

A beautiful caring soul. Brian would light up any room with his smile and his hugs made one feel safe here at our facility. I have worked many years with him and even though he knew things were going to get rough he still left with a smile and gentle hug and said I will be back in a few. He is missed and will continue to hold a place within my heart. Love you Brian.

You, Brain Lane, this is what my daughter Eva and I nicknamed you! I loved your charisma your energy, your fight, your love for life your love for your children. I loved our conversations. I loved our dance parties. I loved that No matter what The situation for anybody you were always there! I also loved that you would cry I when play somewhere over the rainbow, because it reminded you of Jen! There is such a connection between you and I and Shawn I will never forget that! It is bitter, sweet! I can’t believe you’re gone, and I will always cherish all of our time together! i’m not sure why this happened however, I do know there is a reason for this. We may not know it yet, but we’ll figure it out in time.🥰 forever loved!

Brian was a mentor to me during my time with ODYS, I have such great memories of my time working with him.  When I first joined the department in 2007, he was my unit manager and he truly helped me survive my probationary period at MaJCF.  Years later he was my OA at IRJCF and he supported me and helped me navigate some difficult times in my career.  I am thankful for my time with Brian and my prayer is that he is at peace now. - Joel

My sincere condolences to the Lane family. Brian was a presence that could not be denied. He could walk into a room and change the atmosphere. There are many DYS staff that were graced by his “firm, fair, and consistent” support and tutelage. I personally enjoyed working shifts where he was running Operations because things were smooth and easy; if they weren’t he quickly deescalated the problem to get shift moving in the right direction. He will be missed and his light will forever shine for those of us he imparted his wisdom.

I’m so sorry to hear of Brian’s passing, he was my supervisor and was always such a breath of fresh air. My prayers to his family. 

I worked with Mr. Lane at Indian River for many years. He always treated me with respect, was a good co-worker, was helpful, and a positive member of the team. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed.  May the memories of good times bring you comfort.

Brian will be truly be missed he was a true partner. I love his whit, his funny humor, his strong demeanor and his love for the youth. There is much more to say. Moreover, the family loss a beautiful person. He is pain free and enjoying the heavens with his ancestors and waiting for all to join him. I love you dearly Brian.
