Donald Ray McFarland

Donald Ray McFarland passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, after a brief illness at MetroPlex Hospital, Killeen, Texas.

Don was born in Breckenridge Hospital to Mary Elizabeth “Tinkum” (Jennings) and Orville McFarland on June 2, 1950. He spent his youth in the Austin, Jonestown and Leander communities. In 1979 he met and entered a 46 year committed relationship with Lynn Cook. They spent their years raising two sons, never missing any of their events. Once the boys were grown he and Lynn enjoyed traveling and lived several years in New Orleans where they enjoyed hosting family and friends and showing them a good time. Don became somewhat of a Mardi Gras expert.

Don worked for Texas Instruments for 19 years and retired from Xerox in 2015 to enjoy family and hobbies.

He is survived by Lynn, sons Brent McFarland and Brian McFarland, grandchildren Hayden McFarland, Liam McFarland, Breanna Sierra, Malorie Bice, Reid Diamond, great grandchildren Emma, Luke and Abigail Sierra, brother Bruce McFarland (Darwa) and nephews Mace (Brenda) and Adam (Amanda) McFarland. He is preceded in death by his parents Orville & Mary Elizabeth McFarland and his brother Gary McFarland.

A Celebration of Life will held Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 am at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 393 North Interstate Highway 35, Georgetown, Tx. A reception to share memories and raise a toast to his life will be held after the Celebration of Life at a location to be announced.
