Dudley Earl Powell

Dudley Earl Powell, 98, passed away on December 24, 2009. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 2:00 PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Mr. Powell’s wishes were to be cremated and his cremated remains will be buried at a later date at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Dudley was born January 10, 1911 in Bertram, Burnet County, Texas to the late John and Bertie Tanksley Powell. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Augusta Wooten and John Everett “Wigg” Powell. Dudley married Opal Stewart in 1936 in Burnet, Texas. He and Opal have been long time members of Georgetown Church of Christ. Dudley worked for many years in the sales industry but also was a rancher in the Williamson County and Burnet County areas. Dudley leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving memory his wife of 73 years, Opal Powell; his children, Curtis Powell and his wife Bethany, and Leeta Murphy; grandchildren, Carol Eckhardt and her husband Rob and Cody Powell; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Wilma Nell Williams; along with other loving family members and friends.
