Dwaine L. Palmer, of Georgetown, Texas passed on November 24, in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 77. Dwaine was born January 6, 1939 in Chariton, Iowa, to Maxine Faye Davis Palmer and Leland Robert Palmer. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1957. He also attended the University of Iowa as well as Iowa State pursuing a degree in Engineering. There were great memories he had of growing up in Chariton on the farm and spending time at his granddad's farm. Dwaine brought his family back often to share those memories and to stay close to relatives. He was a great older brother as he grew up with Carl and JoAnn, always looking after them and remained close to them through the years.
Dwaine was married to F. Marita Galbreath on May 8, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois. They were married 45 years prior to Dwaine’s passing. It is not possible to think of Dwaine without thinking of Marita. It has always been "Dwaine and Marita”.
For a number of years Dwaine had a passion for hot air balloons. Dwaine was instrumental in the creation of the National Hot Air Balloon Museum in Indianola, Iowa. He spent countless hours fundraising and planning the museum, while enjoying a little flying himself.
Dwaine and his family lived in the Indianola, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Austin areas while working in the telecommunication industry. He began his career with Southwestern Bell then continued with management tenures at AT&T and Sprint. Upon retiring he began his second career driving for Round Rock ISD Transportation where he retired for a 3rd time after11 years.
Dwaine enjoyed life with his family. During retirement Dwaine and Marita traveled throughout the US and Canada in an RV, visiting sites they had dreamed of while raising their children. They enjoyed many trips seeing family and friends. As his children became involved in sports they traveled all over the country attending the games and events. He had a passion for life and living it to the fullest. He liked trying new things and had an adventurous spirit, yet his adventure was always tamed by his concerns for “safety”. Dwaine often went on fishing trips with his friends whom he referred to as “His Fishing Buddies.” Another passion of Dwaine’s was ice cream. Whether is was home made, Schwan’s or Blue Bell he loved black walnut.
Above all else, Dwaine adored his wife, supported his children and cherished his grandchildren.

Marita Palmer (Georgetown, TX), children, Michelle Palmer Golloher (Overland Park, KS), Rebecca Lynn Palmer (Albuquerque, NM), Mark Palmer of (Austin, TX) and Nicole Palmer (Tony Burton) of Cedar Park, TX.
