

Erwin Edmond Bamsch passed peacefully at home, on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the age of 84, surrounded by a host of family members. Erwin was born on April 27, 1934 in Jarrell, Texas to Carl and Louise (Kalmbach) Bamsch. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Erwin was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and raised his family with Christian values and a strong work ethic. He graduated from Zion Lutheran School and then attended Jarrell High school. Erwin married Doris Marilyn Bethke on July 12, 1953, at Zion and purchased and lived on a portion of his families’ homeplace for the next 66 years, until his death.Erwin Edmond Bamsch farmed and ranched on his property to support his family. He also worked in the Walburg cotton gin, highway construction, Briggs Furniture in Belton and home construction. Erwin retired in 1996, after working several years as a crop insurance adjuster.Erwin enjoyed farming, ranching and being a father and husband. He spent quality time with his family on his farm and at the VanHoosier ranch in Kerrville where many memories were made. Erwin also enjoyed fishing, being active in his children’s extracurricular activities, playing cards and dominos at deer camp, the occasional bingo scratch-off tickets, watching the Houston Astros, working at Wurstbraten, and listening to Mollie B, and the Walburg Boys.Erwin was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Louise (Kalmbach) Bamsch; his wife, Doris; brother-in-law Johnnie Sohns; three brothers, Walter (wife Ida), Edgar (wife Edna), and Wilfred Bamsch; four sisters, Wanda (husband Marvin) Moerbe, Wilma (husband Marvin) Meyer, Lorine (husband Bennie) Kelm, and infant sister Elvie Bamsch. Erwin is survived by his four sons; Darrell Bamsch (wife Charlotte), Douglas (wife MaryAnn), Steven (wife Cindy), and Stuart (wife Geneva) Bamsch; one daughter, Peggy (Bamsch) Hughes (husband James Hughes); sister-in-law Joyce Bamsch; sister-in-law Frances (Bethke) Sohns; and many other extended family members.Erwin was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He passed away days before his 85th birthday, and the arrival of his 10th great grandchild. Visitation will be at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH-35, Georgetown, Texas, on Friday, May 3, 2019, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A private burial will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10:00am for the immediate family, followed by a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church, Walburg, Texas at 11:00am. Refreshments and fellowship will follow immediately after the service.Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.The family would also like to thank Geneva and Charlotte for devoting their time with our dad.
