

George Lee Kirk, 91, of Granger, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 3pm to 5pm at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH-35, Georgetown, Texas. A service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow in Williams-Buck Cemetery in Liberty Hill. Honoring Mr. Kirk as pallbearers will be Clay Hirstius, Ronnie Hirstius, Ethan Holloway, Justin Clakley, Kyle Jolly and Malcolm Jolly. George was born August 29, 1923 in Travis County, Texas to Ben and Florence Kirk. On August 25, 1941, he married Nellie Copeland, with whom he shared the joys of life together for over 57 years until her passing in 1999. Together, he and Nellie raised eleven children. He worked all of his life, mostly as a farmer, and in his retirement years in service to the City of Georgetown for 5 years. In what little spare time he allowed himself, he absorbed himself with simply being with family. Mr. Kirk is preceded in death by his wife; son, Thomas Kirk, one grandson and three great-grandchildren. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: sons: Clinton Kirk (Veronica), Ben Kirk (Shirl), Derrell Kirk (Ada), Gilbert Kirk (Debbie), John Kirk, Clifford Kirk and Ron Kirk; daughters: Barbara Holloway (Rick), Shirley John (Elijah) and Gail Vanhouten, 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
