He attended Chester High School and graduated in 1946. He met Helen Tassoni at a high school dance where they both were Juniors and that was the beginning of their lifelong adventure.
Gordon loved sports and was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies Minor League team by Connie Mack himself. After baseball, Gordon was drafted and served in the Army during the Korean War.
Gordon married Helen in October 1949. They settled down in their first apartment in Chester, later moved to Eddystone, and built their first home in Woodlyn, Pennsylvania in 1954. It was always their favorite house because they built it just the way they wanted it, and it was where they started their family. Their son, Don, was born in 1958 and daughter, Dianne, in 1960.
In 1974, they moved to Jarrell, Texas when Gordon took a job transfer to Westinghouse in Round Rock, Texas. They bought a beautiful home on 60 acres, and their Texas family legacy began. Over the years, as their family grew, both of their children built homes on the 60 acres and raised their families. Later, three of their grandchildren also built homes on the property and others are planning to do so as well. This area has been referred to as Cantler Corner for years. He retired from Westinghouse with over 40 years of service. After retiring, his real passion began with keeping up with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He loved his Family!
On November 22, 2021, Jesus called Gordon home. He lived a full life for 93 years surrounded by his family. He was so kind, tender, warm, and loving, with a special place in his heart for each of the many members of his family who affectionately called him “PoPo”.
