

Janet Engvall McTigue passed away on November 14, 2007. Her death was a result of complications resulting from injuries sustained in a recent fire. Janet was born November 11, 1959 in Baltimore Maryland to William R Engvall and Jeanne Shinkle McCormick. She graduated from Richardson High School in 1977. After high school she attended South West Texas State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art/Journalism. She went on to earn her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1989. After spending several years in the California area Janet returned to Georgetown to be closer to family. While in Georgetown she worked for United Way of Georgetown, ran for County Attorney, and in 2005 opened a private law practice. She was a caring and loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor and incredible intelligence. She is survived by her daughter, Annie McTigue; parents, Jeanne McCormick and Neal McCormick, and William R. Engvall, MD and Mary Engvall; sisters, Judy Collins and Jennifer Jackson; brother, Bill Engvall Jr.; nieces, Emily Engvall, Sarah Jackson, Mackenzie Collins; and nephews Travis Engvall and Justin Jackson; Aunt, Kathy Lober, and Uncle, Jack Shinkle, stepbrother and stepsister Michael McCormick and Denise Nordquist. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Helen and Jack Shinkle and her paternal grandparents Ray and Mary Engvall. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on November 24th at the Gabriel’s Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Texas at 2:00 pm. Because of her love for animals the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Janet to the Williamson County Animal Shelter, the Georgetown Animal Shelter, or the Brooke Army Medical Center, whose staff ensured Janet’s comfort and provided the best care possible.
