

Jean Anne Coffey, 70, of Sun City Texas in Georgetown, Texas passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 22, 2009 surrounded by her family. Born November 2, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, Jean was the daughter of Cecil and Velma Robertson. She graduated from Mackenzie High School, attended college in Detroit, and worked early in her marriage to support her husband while he completed his degree at Michigan State University. She was known for her unwavering sense of family, hospitality, and sense of humor with a quick smile for everyone she met. The special times in her life were with her family. Besides travel, interior decorating, and homemaking, Jean plied her television and radio advertising skills to the family dealerships. She was a member of San Gabriel Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, active in a group of Austin friends known as Bits and Pieces. Jean made friends easily taking an active role in the Church activities and with friends in Michigan, Colorado, California, Florida, and Texas whom she remained in constant contact with over the years. Jean is survived by her husband of 51 years, George, who she married June 20, 1958, her four children -- son Allen and wife Sylvia, son Robert, son Jack and wife Mary Catherine, daughter Karen and husband Robbie Prendergast and seven grandchildren Grant Coffey, Michael Coffey, Corinne Coffey, Christin Coffey, Ryan Coffey, George Prendergast, and Patrick Prendergast and her sister Suze Billups. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made by contributing to the charity of your choice.
