Joel was born on November 30, 1961, to David Lee Rogers and Jacque Flowers Rogers. Joel was an only child. He was born in the Georgetown Hospital and was raised in Round Rock, Texas. He graduated from Leander High School in 1981.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jacque, whom he loved very much, and his grandmother Audie. He is survived by his father, David, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Joel fell asleep in death at Arbor House in Fredericksburg, Texas on April 5, 2024, where he had been under excellent care since July 2023. Many in this home loved Joel and said he was the kindest and most loving patient they had.
After high school, he went on to expand his education. When he graduated from college, he went to work at Otis Elevator Company in Florida as a sales rep. He later worked for Exxon. He found his niche when he was hired as a Landman, running titles in oil leases in Midland, Texas. This is where he was when his world fell apart as he fell victim to this horrible disease.
Joel was a people person, and he was a jokester. He loved to play jokes on anyone and everyone. His dad got the brunt of most of them. There were a few things Joel loved other than his dad and mom, #1 was his Ram truck, #2 his ranch, and #3 his little black cat named Tina.
Joel was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 13 in July 1975, in St. Petersburg Florida, at a District Convention. Joel loved learning from the Bible that Jehovah has promised us everlasting life on this earth. Which hope Joel freely shared with many of his dear friends from high school and college. He was confident that this promise will come true very soon. He listened to the words at Acts 23:15. “I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”
A funeral service for Joel will be held at 3pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N Interstate Hwy 35, Georgetown, TX; to be followed by a burial at IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown, TX.
