Mrs. Kathryn (Kitty) Louise Smith Brown, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Georgetown, TX on May 30, 2024. She was born August 1, 1941, in Baytown, Texas to William and Aline Smith. She married her husband, George Allen Brown, on January 8, 1963, while attending Tarlton State University.
Kitty was an accomplished musician on piano, flute, and saxophone. She and her brother formed a rock-n-roll band in the late 1950’s performing at dances around north Texas. She had a hunger for eclectic learning that included astronomy, microbiology, earth science, geography, and computer programming. She taught herself seven languages and became fluent in reading, writing, and speaking them. She was skilled with a needle and thread from making last-minute puppets and costume alterations for her children to refitting carpeting to restore a 1967 Camero with her husband as well as re-upholstering the interior of their aircraft. She enjoyed reading science fiction and the classics. Though she held various jobs throughout her working years including NCR, Texas Instruments, Gantt Aviation, Southwestern University, and OGR Publishing her biggest joy was raising and caring for her family.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Monique and James McIntosh of Hutto, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Rock and Rhonda Brown of Willis, TX; beloved grandchildren, Suzanne Nourani and husband Sherwin, Michael McIntosh, and Allison Brown; great-grandson Adrian Nourani; sister Elizabeth Smith Burden of Finksburg, MD; and brother and sister-in-law, William and Doris Smith, Jr. of Killeen, TX.
A memorial service is planned at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to a charity of your choice in Kathryn’s name.
