Lillian was born on August 11, 1924, on a farm east of Granger, Texas to Frank and Annie (Nemec) Hajda. She graduated from Granger High School in 1942 and married her soulmate, Raymond W. Naizer, on June 14, 1948.
After raising four children on a farm northwest of Granger, Lillian pursued a nursing degree and graduated from the Nursing Program at Georgetown Hospital in 1972 at the age of 48. Lillian was an excellent nurse; she was recognized as Nurse of the Year for the State of Texas in 1996. She served on several medical missions in Central America and Mexico. Even outside her career, Lillian gave her all, as she was honored as a 5-gallon blood donor in 2011. She dedicated 27 years to nursing and retired at the age of 75. Lillian’s kindness and the strong work ethic significantly contributed to her success. She passed this strong work ethic on to her family that will continue through the generations.
Lillian was a woman of profound faith, deeply devoted to her Catholic beliefs. She attended daily mass at St. Helen’s Catholic Church and was involved in the choir, altar society, and various clubs, alongside being a regular volunteer and donor. After she stopped driving at the age of 95, Lillian continued her devotion by listening to daily mass on the radio or through streaming video. She prayed the rosary daily.
Lillian was an award-winning quilter, 5k pedestrianist, teacher, gardener, cook, baker, and canner, with specialties in Chicken Fried Steak, Kolaches, and other Czech dishes. She was an accomplished quilter, having donated over 500 handmade crocheted afghans to the Unwed Mother Society. She continued making afghans and quilts into her late 90s. Lillian was also an accomplished seamstress, making clothes and quilts for her family, including her daughter’s wedding dress. Lillian also had a keen interest in football and enjoyed watching games, often able to break down a game with the best of them. A world traveler, Lillian visited South America, Asia, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and all U.S. states except North Dakota. She has probably already stopped by there since passing to finally check it off her list!
Lillian was proud of her Czech heritage and was able to read, write, and speak Czech fluently. She loved dancing and singing along to Czech music with family and friends. Every Christmas, she would lead her family in singing Czech songs, and her smiles and laughter while her grandchildren and great-grandchildren danced along was music to all our ears. Lillian’s smile and laughter lit up a room; her family will always cherish those memories.
Lillian lived a life of faith, family, and service. She was quick to help anyone in need with her time, treasure, or prayer. She will be greatly missed, including by friends and family in assisted living and nursing homes who she made a point to visit often. She leaves behind wonderful memories and a legacy of faith, love, and a long life well-lived.
Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, one grandchild, and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren and their spouses, and 11 great-grandchildren. Lillian also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
