

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest H. Johnson Sr and brothers James (JH), Charles, and Claudie.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Larry (wife Dale), Cheri Waldren (husband Vernon), Ernest, Jr, and Nancy Domel (husband Douglas), her sister Shirley Farr and (husband Dudley), her sister-in-law Lois Hausenfluke, 5 grandchildren: Curtis Johnson, James Johnson, Lacy Eicher (husband Nathan), Josh Domel (wife Laura), Tabitha Barritt (husband Chase), 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Laverne went into the nursing field and stayed with it for many years. She started in one of the first classes of the School of Nursing that was created in Georgetown in the early 1960s earning her LVN pin. The skills she learned were put to use at Georgetown Hospital, Southwestern University and Georgetown High School.
Laverne loved baking and decorating cakes for friends and relatives. She was well known for unique designs, customers from near and far would special order her Doll Cakes.
She fully participated in all of her children’s extracurricular activities while they were in the Georgetown School district, such as Band Boosters.
Laverne leaves a legacy of Love for her Family, Loyalty to her Friends and an unfailing Faith in God. She was a long-time member of the Georgetown Church of Christ and later Gabriel Oaks Church of Christ.
Special thanks to Jim McDonald, assistant activity director and Chaplain of Park Place, for bringing joy and comfort to Laverne while she was a resident at Park Place.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 2 pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N. IH 35 in Georgetown, followed by the burial at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.
