Paul Anthony Burgess, 61, of Jarrell, passed away at his home on Monday, October 15, 2012. Visitation and services were held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH35, Georgetown. Paul will be laid to rest at a later date at IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown. Paul was born April 8th, 1951, in Wimbledon in the United Kingdom to the late Anthony and Joan Davies Burgess. Paul traveled a lot throughout his life, but landed finally in Illinois in 1998. He moved to Texas in 1999 and has since resided in Jarrell. Paul was a very successful salesman in the computer industry, and worked for Dell Computers for several years. He decided to return to school late in life to obtain his undergraduate degree in Calculus & Education. Paul was the oldest student on campus at Southwestern University, but was revered for his tenacity for sticking with his studies with passion and humor. Paul will be truly missed on campus. He tutored also for Austin Community College and had just recently taught a couple of classes with Georgetown ISD at the high school. Paul was proud of his 4.0 grade point average and was so excited about his future as a teacher. Paul’s pride and joy was his daughter, Hannah; they traveled together and explored the world from England to Australia and Egypt. He enjoyed reading, cooking, doing projects around the house, and he loved golf. Paul has spent the last 14 years of his life with his loving and much loved partner, Teresa Jordan. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Joan Burgess. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving companion, Teresa Jordan, along with her son Cody Jordan and granddaughter, Heylia Jordan; his daughter, Hannah Burgess; his sister, Carol Halstead and her husband Jim; the mother of his daughter, Suzanne Warner; along with a host of friends and students that will truly miss him. His darling dogs are also grieving. Memorial donations are requested in Paul’s memory to Southwestern University Education Department to further the minds and lives of other students. Alternatively, go out and have a great meal and think about his flair for life. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.gabrielsfuneral.com, and would be hugely appreciated.
