Raymond Blake Pletcher

He was born December 10, 1958 in Ferndale, Michigan and came to Leander four years ago, from Venice FL, where he met and married the love of his life Julie-Parry Pletcher. He is survived by Julie; his son Andrew Jackson, Lake Orion, MI; sisters Marian Morton (Husband William), Nokomis FL and Cathie Hauser (Husband Billy), Oak Park, MI; Mother-in-Law Joyce Parry, Leander, TX; in-laws Steve and Jill Cummings, Cedar Park, TX; Jeff Parry, Seattle, WA; Jay and Bette Ann Parry, Venice, FL; nieces and nephews Melissa Hauser, Jill Hauser, Kristy Skulitz, Travis Cummings (Wife Emily, Great Nephew Zachary), Cori McIllice (Husband Bobby), Katie Parry, Delanie Parry, Friends of Bill W and countless more.

He was the beloved son of the late Bernie and Jean Pletcher and son-in-law of the late Joe Parry.

He and Julie celebrated nine years of marriage on December 27, 2018.

He was the loving Papa of his dog Jeremiah and kitties Josh and Jordi.

He was a truly fine chef who loved to cook and feed everyone he knew, and his rubs and sauces, bbq ribs, mac and cheese, key lime pie and cheesecake were legendary. He was a former restaurant co-owner of RJ’s Pub and Sir Pizza, Rochester Hills MI, and owner of BernieJoe’s TexMexi-Que. He was a gifted, talented musician and lead singer of the 1980s Detroit area rock & roll band Nitro. He loved Harley motorcycles and rode for many years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Spending time with his family and friends and taking his dog swimming were his greatest joys. Ray never met a stranger; he was one of the happiest, funniest people on Earth. He loved making people laugh and he excelled at it.

At the time of his death, he was employed by Hyatt House Austin/Arboretum, Austin TX as the Director of Engineering, and he took pride in and appreciated his job.

There could be no greater gift than to be fed, entertained, or loved by Ray. We will keep him in our hearts forever and see him in heaven, where he is singing with his loved ones and the angels.

Services will be held on March 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm, at Leander United Methodist Church, 107 S West Dr. Leander, Texas 78641  with fellowship and food to follow.
