

Samuel “Sambo” Hernandez Gonzales passed away February 9, 2010. He was the eldest of eleven children born to Miguel and Rita (Hernandez) Gonzales on April 6, 1941 in Georgetown. Samuel married Tempora Ramos on November 17, 1962 in Georgetown. He was a devoted husband for 47 years. His pride and joy was always his children, their children and his great-grandchildren; son, Norman Gonzales and Nancy Henninger; daughter, Sylvia Gonzales and Gabriel Alvarado, Sr.; grandchildren, Gabrielle Ann and Gabriel, Jr. (Bruno) Alvarado; great-grandchildren, Samantha Marie and Isbel Angelina Alvarado; brothers. Severiano Gonzales, Mike Gonzales, Henry and Inez Gonzales, Salomon Gonzales, David and Janie Gonzales, Daniel and Diane Gonzales; sisters, Toni Roblez, Rachel and Joe Medrano, Felipa Martinez and Becky Vasquez; several nieces and nephews. Samuel loved and enjoyed his family. He was always involved in any school or outdoor activity with his children. His love for old cars, hot rods and “T Buckets” was a big pastime for him. He was an honorary member of Centex Cruisers. Samuel worked thirty-five years at Texas Crushed Stone and attended St. Helen’s for many years. His faith and church held a very special place in his heart. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Father Louis Wozniak will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2010 in St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown. Honoring his memory as pallbearers will be: Marcus Ramos, Ray Bracamontez, Henry Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, Mike Gonzales, David Gonzales, Severiano Gonzales, and Salomon Gonzales. Interment will follow in Georgetown Memorial Park.
