Sue Ross Metcalfe

Sue R. Metcalfe, 77, most recently of Tow, Texas, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. A service celebrating Sue's life and her unending faith will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 10:00AM at the Liberty Hill Church of Christ, 1700 Loop 332, Liberty Hill, Texas. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Honoring Sue's life serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Taylor Metcalfe, James Metcalfe, James Troy Bishop, Jr., Jim Traynor, Dean Traynor, and Jacob Brewster. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Hayden, Jim Neyens, Mike Traynor, John Traynor, Casey Long, and Mike Crane. Sue, a native of Williamson County and Liberty Hill, was born on March 4, 1937 to James E. (Jim) and Bernice Law Ross. Raised in the Liberty Hill area she graduated from high school in 1955. Sue married the love of her life and father of her children, Taylor Warren Metcalfe, Sr. on June 3, 1960 in Liberty Hill. Sue was a breast cancer survivor from 1998. She walked numerous charity walks for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. As her children were growing up, Sue was very involved with the Lone Star Counsel of the Girl Scouts of America. Sue was a long time faithful member of the Liberty Hill Church of Christ Church. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting and gardening. Sue's bright spirit and courage was an inspiration to all that knew her and she will be truly missed. Sue is preceded in death by her father, James E. Ross; her sisters, Edna Faye Ross & Carolyn Gauthier. Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 54 years, Taylor W. Metcalfe, Sr.; her mother, Bernice Law Ross; her four children, Katherine M. James and husband Bruce, Barbara Jo M. Ebner and husband Terry, Taylor W. Metcalfe, Jr. and his wife Pam, and Eleanor Sue M. Bishop and her husband James Troy Bishop, Sr.; her siblings, Betty Jo Neyens, Nellie Traynor, and James Duff Ross; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
