October 26, 1945-December 15, 2022
William Clark Johnson of Taylor, Texas passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022. He was 77 years of age. Clark was born October 26, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to Mary Jeannette Johnson (Carey) and Lawrence Russell Johnson. He grew up in Burbank, California for most of his life, attending and graduating from a military academy. He received a Bachelors in Business Administration and Philosophy from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. During this time, he met his wife, Joyce, at an intercollegiate college dance. Clark was deeply in love with his wife of 52 years and was a steadfast encourager to his family. He placed high value on integrity, authenticity, and loyalty, passing this on by showing up and doing the hard work of guiding his family through joy and sorrow.
Over the years, Clark was committed to furthering his education and expanding his knowledge. Clark was always civic minded, joining the Jaycees, Lions club, Kiwanis club and rotary. He was an active member in these groups, forging bonds and doing good works in the community. Clark wore many more hats than most during his lifetime; he was a law student, a banker, a show dog handler, a credit agent, a process server, a security guard, a stand-up comedian, a 5th grade teacher, and a realtor.
Clark could always be counted on for a dad joke, often receiving a snicker from the boys and an eye roll from the girls. He had a great sense of humor and liked to try new things, including a "fad" diet of eating nothing but half a gallon of ice cream per day. He was a lifetime golfer, even earning an opportunity to play in the Los Angeles Open, which he didn't get to attend as he was sadly grounded by his parents for making bets on golf.
Clark was a devout Catholic. He gave generously to those in need and set a great example for his children and grandchildren. He took God's commands to heart, caring for the widows and orphans. He leaves a long legacy of rooting for the underdog, often befriending those least likely to find a friend. Clark was great at seeing to the heart of a person and supporting them. He served in many Catholic organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent dePaul.
Clark will be remembered as a believer, devoted husband, supportive father, loving grandfather, and loyal friend. He will remain in the hearts of his wife, Joyce Johnson (Zickrick); his brother and sister-in law Carey & Elaine Johnson; his children, Russell, Eric, and Jeanette Johnson; his daughters-in-law Jennika Cook Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; and his grandchildren John Clark (Jacey), Jorey, Jennie, and June Johnson.
Visitation will be observed Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 5-7pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North I-35, Georgetown, Texas. A funeral mass will be held December 30, 2022 at 10am at Saint Williams Catholic Church, 620 Round Rock West Drive, Round Rock, Texas. Thanks to his great faith, we know that Clark is now golfing heaven's fairways.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Williams Church and The Shriners.
