William Mark “Woody” Wood, 56, of Georgetown, Texas passed on Monday, August 7th, 2017 at his home. Mark was born November 29, 1960 to James and Betty Wood in Brownwood, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jimmy, and his sister, Janice. Mark is survived by many loved ones: his wife, Cheryl, and two sons, Dean, of Round Rock TX, and Stephen, of Brooklyn NY. He is further survived by his brother, Kenneth, sister Janet, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in law. He was a member of the 1978 class of Brownwood High School. He worked as an Operations Manager in the construction industry. If you were to ask him, he’d tell you he ran a tight ship. Never one to mince words, Mark shot from the hip, which usually resulted in a hard eye roll from one of his sons, but more often riotous laughter from anyone in his audience. Mark served his community through his devotion to youth sports and recreation. In 1993, he lent his hands to the notable 6-day raising of Georgetown’s Creative Playscape. In 1996, he led construction of a new baseball field while he served on the board of directors of the Georgetown Youth Baseball Association. Mark’s family invite you to celebrate his life at Dale’s Essenhaus, located at 3900 FM972, Walburg, TX 78626, on Friday, August 18th from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page has been established for the family. https://goo.gl/P3wQQU
