

Albert Henry Renne, Jr. of Covina, California was 97 years old when he passed into eternity on Sunday, January 12. 2025. His parents were Albert Henry Renne, Sr. and Edna Rohwer Renne. Al was born on October 24, 1927, at his grandfather Henry Rohwer’s farm near Forest Green, Missouri. His grandparents immigrated from Germany to Missouri in the 1850s and were founders of the Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green. Al attended the Salem Lutheran Elementary school. He was the oldest of four children and a great help to his parents on the farm. His father was a U.S. rural postal carrier.
After graduating from Salisbury High School in 1945, Al enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces. He served in Texas, Illinois and at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Al was a staff sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge in 1948 receiving the World War II Victory Medal. Al then attended the University of Missouri receiving his BS in Civil Engineering. He met Jenny Wolfe during his college years and they were married in 1952. Al began his railroad career with the Pennsylvania Railroad as a roadmaster and quickly rose through the ranks, each promotion coming with a transfer to a new territory. He made an early career change to the Santa Fe Railroad and retired in 1987 as the Assistant General Manager of Engineering in Los Angeles, California.
Al married Norma Carwile in 1993 and they traveled throughout the United States, including Alaska, Canada and Europe. He did a family ancestry research project and was thrilled to travel to Germany to meet distant cousins.
Al is survived by his wife, Norma, sister Iris Kelley, five children; Bruce Bob, Susan, Sandra, and Nancy. He had nine grandchildren; Tiffany, Charity, Jason, Ryan, Carissa, Mark, Conner, Steven and David and five great-grandchildren; Noelle, Zach, Daniel, Cassidy, and Daisy. Al was a member of Grace Church of Glendora. Internment will be held at Oakdale Mortuary and Memorial Park on February 20, 2025.
