

Betty Jean Boyd (Walls) was born in the Eufaula Township, in McIntosh Oklahoma on February 23rd 1936 to Floyd Homer Walls and Lillian Luartie Sylvania Walls (Longcrier).
She was the fifth child born of seven children. She grew up in the small-town of Checotah Oklahoma. The daughter of a sharecropper spending her days picking cotton along-side her brothers and sisters. She attended Checotah High School and was part of the Honor Society and Student Council for all 4 years. She graduated Valedictorian of her class. She went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. During that time, she met her future husband, William Thurman Boyd (Bill), while dining at a 50’s diner. They married on September 10th 1956. Three years later, they welcomed their first child, Lorrie Jaye Boyd (Robles). Later they moved to Los Angeles and lived in a small apartment where they welcomed their second child, Scott Alan Boyd. They moved to Baldwin Park California and purchased their first home on a VA bill for a little over $5,000.00. There they welcomed their third child, Jeffrey William Boyd.
Betty worked for the Covina Water District as a Secretary for approximately 18 years. She then went to work for Southern California Edison as a Project Annalist and then a Project Manager until she retired in 1996.
Betty loved books and was an avid reader who spent many years volunteering her time to the public library in Baldwin Park, California and later in Arizona where she moved in 2006.
Betty Jean Boyd (Walls) is survived by her two sons Scott Alan Boyd & Jeffrey William Boyd and their wives Diana Lynn Boyd (Corbino) and Judy Ann Boyd (Walker) respectively, along with six grandchildren, Louie Joseph Robles, Nicole Kristen Knowlson (Robles) & husband Matthew Wright Knowlson, Eric Robert Robles & wife Brandy Michelle Robles (Kosters), Lauren Marie Boyd, Justin Alan Boyd & wife Jenelle Lindsey Boyd (Peters) and Brooke Lynn Boyd as well as three great grandchildren Matthew Brody Knowlson, Bella June Knowlson and Gavin T. Alan Boyd.
