Lily, My deepest condolences for your loss. I am so sorry that I cannot attend Dean’s funeral.
 
When I look back at my entire LAPD career I always seem to focus on my years at Hollenbeck Division which were some of the best and memorable years of my career. I’ve had many partners but only a precious few build a deep and lasting friendship that carries into our personal life’s most memorable moments. I fondly remember some of our crazy good times at Jack’s with you, Dean and Lucy. Those days remind me of this song and actually every time I’ve heard it over the last 40 years you and Dean always crept fondly into my mind.

“Once upon a time there was a tavern 
where we used to raise a glass or two.
Remember how we laughed away the hours
thinking of all the great things we would do?
Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end……”

And we cannot forget those water skiing days at Lake Havasu.  OMG!! I’ll let you explain them to your family. Good luck with that.

But in the currents of life we drifted apart but life happens.
I’d like to hopefully leave you with a smile, the same smile that you and Dean smiled every time I sang this little quirky song to you.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your father was a wonderful man who truly knew how to enjoy life—his love for family, good times, and the finer things.
