Deborah (Debbie) Marie Aris
Debbie Aris, 56, who lived in the San Gabriel Valley for most of her life, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017 in Glendora, CA. after a lengthy and painful illness, having spent 38 days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital. Debbie was born July 3, 1960 in Glendora, CA to Jim and Jackie Gunning.
At a very early age, Debbie was attracted to animals, a love she carried throughout her life. Her room always looked like an exotic animal pet shop, with animals of various sizes and shapes. She graduated from South Hills High School where she had continued her love for animals, once taking home Rocky the raccoon to care for it over the Easter holiday. He tore apart walls in the bathroom where she had stashed him. She parlayed that love for animals into a career in the animal care business. She later worked as a cashier at Von's Supermarket.
Debbie had her first child, Krystal Serotsky of La Verne, CA, with her sweetheart, Joe Serotsky. Debbie later married Perry Aris and they had three additional children: Ashley Aris of Glendora, CA, Ryan Aris of Stockton, CA and Tiffany Tingley of Fort Benning, GA. Debbie was a devoted full time mother and homemaker. She became overjoyed when her children made her a grandmother. She had ten grandchildren. She and Perry thoroughly enjoyed being grandparents and spoiling all of the grandchildren.
Debbie was always a happy go lucky person who always greeted you with a big smile and a welcoming hug. Debbie enjoyed working in the garden and cultivating flowers. She was a great cook and was able to make a complete and delicious meal even though she always seemed to be missing some key ingredients. There was always plenty of good food and laughter when Debbie was around. She loved being a jokester. She made everyone feel at ease, making friends in an instant and was always thoughtful and considerate of others.
Besides her immediate family, Debbie is survived by her step father Dennis Fineran of La Verne, CA, brother Johnny Gunning and wife Karen of Monrovia, CA, Son-in-law Sam Tingley of Fort Benning, GA, Uncle John Anderson and wife Beverly of Nevada City, CA, Niece Amanda Gunning and Nephews Cody and Cory Gunning , residing in Ohio and Cousin Kristen Vicino, along with husband Greg and sons Leo and Joseph of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by members of her blended family, sisters Denise, Cindi and Brandi, nephew Brian and nieces Alyssa and Brittany, as well as numerous close friends. She was preceded in death by Cousin Eric Anderson, her Father Jim Gunning, Grandmother Grace Anderson and Nephew Jonathon Gunning.
Although she will be missed by all of us, she wouldn't want us to be sad for her passing as she is now in heaven with her cousin Eric, father Jim, grandmother Grace and nephew Jonathon. They are together again and free from any pain or suffering. Remember the happy times to ease the sorrow.
FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
