Emilio Barajas was born on January 28, 1932, and passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 94. Our father was born in Pomona, California, and spent most of his life in Azusa. He was the third of five children. At just six years old, he began working in the fields, picking oranges and grapes.
As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. Emilio served in the 224th Infantry Division, where he rose through the ranks to become a Sergeant First Class. His service was marked by dedication, discipline, and courage. President Ronald Reagan once said, “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world, but the Marines do not have that problem.” The same can be said of the soldiers of the 224th Infantry. Because of men like them, South Korea stands today as a thriving democracy with one of the most robust economies in the world. Our father always reminded us that freedom is not free. He lived that truth through his service, his sacrifice, and the life he built for his family.
Following his military service, Emilio worked as a laborer before pursuing a career in the electrical trade. He eventually became a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and went on to build a highly successful electrical business. A humble, kind, and generous man, Emilio opened doors for many individuals, guiding them toward meaningful careers in the electrical industry. Now, Emilio has been called to a higher duty.
May he rest in peace. On behalf of our family, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who have gathered to celebrate our father’s life. We are truly humbled and honored by your presence, your support, and your remembrance.
