Greta Z. Arifin; was born to Frederick and Agnes Pantouw in Balikpapan, Indonesia on October 19, 1936 and passed away at the age of 77 in West Covina, California on October 24, 2013. She married Zahar Arifin in 1958 and raised her family in Jakarta. Her husband was a diplomat, they were stationed in different countries such as India, Malaysia, Egypt, US, and Czechoslovakia. She enjoyed cooking, singing, reading, traveling, and going out to eat; one of her favorites was Soup Plantation for Soups and Salads. Greta's career of choice was being a homemaker, a "Mother" to 2 children and "Grandma" to 3 grandchildren. Greta is survived by her daughter Nita Arifin-Rivas and her son Iwan Arifin, her three grandchildren as well as a host of extended family and friends. Greta was loved and will be dearly missed. There will be a funeral service on November 1, 2013 11:00 am at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.
