Jacquelyn (Jackie) Beck Anderson Fineran, Age 83, of La Verne, CA passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. She was born in Long Beach, CA on March 31, 1941, and is now at peace after a long and difficult battle with cancer.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, John Anderson of Nevada City CA, her only daughter, Debbie of Bakersfield CA and a grandson and nephew. She is survived by her husband Dennis Fineran of La Verne CA, her only son, John Gunning of Victorville CA as well as four granddaughters, three grandsons and numerous great grandchildren, all of whom she deeply loved. She is also survived by one niece, two grand-nephews and numerous cousins.
Jackie lived in the San Gabriel Valley of California for most of her life. She attended Glendora schools where she graduated from Glendora High School and then attended Citrus College and studied Cosmetology. Jackie also worked as a secretary at the Haagen-Dazs ice cream company, where she enjoyed the complimentary servings of the company’s tasty products. After being a homemaker while her children were growing up, she became a successful Realtor. She continued in this profession and partnered with Dennis in this field after they married, until they retired a few years ago.
She met Dennis on the internet, having responded to one of his enquiries on the dating site “Love at AOL”. They enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and her favorite trips were on cruise ships to foreign ports. Her most beloved times were those she spent with her great grandchildren. She loved reading to them and getting on the floor to play with them.
Jackie was a very special lady who had many friends. She lived by the motto “you need to be a friend to have a friend”. She had a heart of gold and was generous and kind. Her friends have described her as a classy, wonderful and sweet lady, a beautiful person. Her struggle with cancer also proved another word was appropriate: Fighter.
A card we received had these words: “Everything happens for a reason, live it, love it, learn from it! Make your smile change the world, but don’t let the world change your smile.” Jackie certainly lived by this. No matter how difficult a struggle she faced during her illness, she always had a big smile for everyone.
She loved life and one of the last things she said was: “It was great while it lasted”!
