Jose was the best man in my wedding and one of my closest friends.

He was a very generous person and would go out of his way to be there if you needed anything. 

If you knew him, he was known to help people.
Willing to share and ready to give of his Time and Money 

We were all blessed to serve with Jose he was a great friend even though he joked a lot, and I mean a lot.

He took serving God seriously.  
andI was blessed to serve God with him.

Donald teamed us up for many years ushering in the Women’s Ministry.

If you’ve ever served those nights, it’s a  Long Long blessing. 

but God gives you the strength.

There were times the women would have food and desserts. 

I would always ask Jose if we could get some and he would say, “bro we’re here to serve” 

and I would reply 
I know bro …I don’t mind serving myself Thank you.

When God gives us the opportunity to serve Him sometimes we don’t realize 
He’s blessing us more by obeying Him.

The relationships and friendships that God gives us through serving Him.

builds Us up to having even a closer relationship with God and our brothers and sisters.

I thank God for the Friendship He gave me with Jose and many of the brothers and sisters here at Cornerstone.

Jose, thank you for the laughs. 
Thank you for your prayers. 
Thank you for your friendship.

He was a good and faithful servant.

My favorite memory of my Uncle besides his kindness was his beautiful craftsmanship. He made my son a beautiful rocking horse/dragon. That will be in the family forever. 

But my Uncle was a practical joker. At one point we lived in the same household. So we would prank each other. Well id say he got me good. He put baby powder on my white pillow. So when I went to lay down. This massive baby powder cloud engulfed my head. I coughed and laughed. I could hear him laughing in the room as he waited for me to yell.

Jose,
I felt like an extra little sister to you growing up in El Sereno. You and my sister were best friends and I was always at your house. Your mom, my Nina would take care of me while you were all at school. I would spend weekends at your house as well. I remember sleeping on the sofa bed and watching Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Saturday Night Live every Saturday night. 

I remember you would bring the television outside and prop it up on a car hood so all the neighbors could watch Twilight Zone together on hot summer nights. 

I remember watching Michael Jackson’s Thriller video for the first time at your house because you had MTV and we didn’t. 

I remember when I was going to Wilson high school we had moved away to Highland Park. I would walk to your house and would ask for a ride home  You never said no. 

There are so many wonderful memories of you, but the thing I remember most is that you were a funny, kind, generous, and loving. I’ll never forget you. I love you, Jose. ❤️ I know you’re with your mom and sister watching over us all. We miss you so much.

Jose, when we were kids you were my best friend and constant companion. ❤️ Growing up in the alley were like episodes of the Little Rascals. All the neighborhood kids would come out in the morning and figure out what kind of adventures and mischief we were going to get into. I remember games of keep away with my Tia’s water hose - boys against girls, sliding down the biggest hills we could find on cardboard boxes, swimming at the neighbor’s pool and going trick or treating with Aunt Esther. 🙂

When we were in high school and you were on the football team, we would go to the Jr. High to throw the football and run the track, taking Lobo with us. One day it began to rain but we kept going. Lobo decided to cut in front of me and made me fall on my face and slide through the mud. After you found out I was alright, you burst into laughter. Embarrassed and humiliated, I flung mud at you and you retaliated. Your mom flipped out when we came home soaking wet and covered in mud.

Thank you for your wonderful sense of humor, your kind, caring and generous heart. I’ll treasure all our memories. 💕I’m so proud of the man of faith you became.

Uncle you taught me  how important it is to love family and spend time with them. You had the biggest most giving heart. When ever someone was in need of something you were always there to help. I have a pair of your spider man socks you threw at me one time cause I was complaining how cold my feet were. I sleep with those socks all the time and they bring me so much comfort. I miss you. I miss you sending me TikTok's, I miss your jokes, pranks and sense of humor. Thank you for always teaching us how important our relationship with god is. During your illness and even on your worst days at the hospital I never heard you say why me. You never felt sorry for yourself. Instead you said "Mija I trust the lord, he's going to heal me or he's going to take me and I'm not scared" that stays with me forever. I love you uncle and I'm happy you're no longer in pain but I will miss your forever.

So many fond memories you will be missed my Brother.I miss talking to you and all the laughs we had together. I still find myself wanting to call you but I know you’re in a much better place. God is good and I thank Him for our friendship.

I remember my Uncle Jose and father picking me up when I was probably about 4 or 5 years old at the crack of dawn to go fishing. We would stop at Jack In The Box before heading out. They would take me to Dana Point to fish off the jetty and I was always afraid I was gonna fall in between the rocks. Well Uncle Jose would put me on his shoulders and get me across the rocks to our spot. Or watching him and my father play basketball in the alley against each other and talk smack to each other. I will always cherish the time we spent. They were always good memories. Never a bad moment with my Uncle. I miss him so much.

Well Jose, you beat me to the finish line! I'm still running. see you in heaven.

This is a picture of a hot summer day where I was a bit stressed because I needed to take a photo for a class. Uncle said "Mija look take a picture of me for your class" He posed and I snapped the photo and although I did not use it for my class I always kept this picutre because although it was hot, he was tired and not feeling too well as he was already sick he still encouraged me and was a cheerleader for me when it came to my education. Thank you uncle for pushing me to get my degree, you emphasized the importance of it when coming to work for you and finally in June I'll be obtaining my AA in Business Administration and General Education because of you, the push you gave me along with the support and when I told you Thank you for pushing me and I was thinking about going for my BA your response was "Mija let's do it, what do we need to do, go as far as you want" I will never forget that. You always encouraged me not only to work for you or anyone else but to always go after my dreams as well because it can be done. Thank you for always having my back and supporting me and telling me to keep going further. I will forever miss you Uncle, thank you for being the best uncle ever! Words could never describe my gratitude or love for you. I will always do what I can to make you proud and work on my relationship with God because I know our family's salvation was so important to you. Love you forever Uncle.

This is a memory of a time uncle and I borrowed my mom's car to go to the store and my mom had her seat up and when uncle got in he didn't quite fit. I asked him if he was ok and he said "look at me do I look ok" and made that face and we both laughed and laughed. I even showed him the picture I took and we both laughed at the situation and picture. I enjoyed going on rides with him and even driving him around even though he would tell me I didn't know how to drive. I will miss your humor even if at times I was the butt of your jokes. You always made me laugh whether you wanted to or not, I just enjoyed all the time I got to spend with you. Thank you for bringing me on to work for you and trusting me to help you along the way in your journey. I will miss you and your humor, but I am grateful I have memories to cherish for the rest of my days.

Thank you for the countless trips to TJ to visit Abuelita and take her eating at Puerto Nuevo. You always took us to feed the squirrels on the way to see Abuelita. We always had the best times on our monthly trips with the family laughing so much we cried at times. You showed us how important family and family time is, and those times were everything. We would go eating, you would drive us in grandmas van that had no seats just milk crates to sit in and you would go close to the hills edges just cause you knew it would freak me out and you would sway the van left and right to scare us all while you were laughing at us going back on forth on the crates. You would always dare Aunt Maria to do something, and she could never resist, and we would just laugh and so much fun. Thank you for the countless memories you left me with, I am blessed and fortunate to be the niece that would tag along every opportunity I got. I loved every minute of those trips, thank you for always taking us and driving us in your Explorer.

Uncle and I on my wedding day. He wasn't feeling his best self but like always he showed up for me. He kept telling me leading up to this day that he didn't want me to stress about anything just to enjoy it all and it was the hottest day, but I am so grateful my uncle was there for me and with me on this day. Thank you Uncle for showing up, being there for me and giving me so much advice along the way. You knew how important this commitment was for my family and helped facilitate obtaining Pastor Tony to marry us. Thank you for always talking to me about God and giving me fatherly advice and telling me to work on my relationship with the lord because "Mija time is short" and boy I see that more than ever after losing you. Words could never express my love or the gratitude I have for all you've done to help me in my life. Thank you for being the BEST Uncle Ever! I love you so so much Uncle!

This memory is from me working in the office and Uncle walking in to give me paperwork. He sat beside me and started writing on me as I was typing, I said what are you doing and he was like "Mija I'm giving you a tattoo because I know you miss your dad." I looked at it and we both laughed, he was laughing a little harder because he used sharpie on me, and he knew it wouldn't be easy to come off and it wasn't, but I am glad he captured this memory. I will miss seeing him come into the office sitting down next to me and talking to me or showing me something on tik tok or hearing him talk to customers on the phone. My uncle was so knowledgeable and honest and cared about taking care of his customers the right way. I admire the business owner he was and how he treated his customers. I will miss him making me laugh while in the office with me then just saying "what" and we would both laugh. Working for you has been one of the biggest privileges and blessings as I was able to show you my capabilities and help you in so many aspects of your life. Thank you for being the Boss you were, I am determined to keep your business going and continue helping others as you did. Thank you for allowing me to work from hospitals when it came to Abuelita and You, I was truly blessed to have all that time, and you gave that to me. I will forever miss you Uncle but will I'm always going to try to continue to make you proud.

I met Jose professionally many years ago.  I called him often because our old building had old failing A/C’s units.  He would arrive at our office with a great big smile and ready to work his magic to get the old units working again.  Over the years we became good friends.   He was extremely generous, with a big heart full of love for his family and a smile that would make your day so much brighter.  He knew a “guy” for about every service you needed for home and business.  He was my best go-to referral service.   If you needed a good laugh for the day, you could rely on him to send you a random funny text or a goofy video.

Sometimes words feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss.   He leaves a big hole in our hearts and his presence will be missed by everyone.  You will truly be missed, my friend!  💔

Jose and I had a professional relationship being a contractor and he helped me at my house whenever I needed him.we were brothers in Christ meeting at calvary and he was  a a Christian through and through at work or at church.My heart goes out to all that are in mourning he will be missed .

Sharing a memory: Sunday morning Jose was "holding court" w/his diabetic sugar detector and care instructions based on the results (several brother & sisters sat compliantly). That same evening, again at church, he comes scurrying into the sanctuary with this undercover-spy-type smile and sneakly distributing  handfulls of hard candy. Makes me laugh and smile every time.  PastorJoe Said it best "there is a dark cloud over us". His legacy of love & laughter will forever remain in our hearts. Miss you beautiful Jose.

Where do i start brother Jose you were a man who loved Jesus and you used your gift he gave you being there for others when needed, you were my funny thorn on my side and finally the Lord took it away lol. All i can say we had many many laughs and pokes  at each other  only you and i knew it was all in fun like a big brother and little sister or a young lady and and old man😂 I’m  truly going to miss that even those text you would send me! To the family may the Lord put his arms around you and comfort you all during this time.Jose you are now at home with no more pain and your  rejoicing with Jesus like I always say its not good bye but see you later! We feel so honored and blessed to have had a relationship with Jose and serve the Lord and the body of Christ together at Calvary Chapel Cornerstone.

In 2008 as  We were getting to know Him…. We had an AC problem and He came right out and helped Us and a great example in His work.

We had a personal connection ever since.


We had a lot of laughs together and we loved Kobe and our Lakers and He would always say what’s up bro when I seen Him and we gave each other a great big bro Hug. 

We shared some great fellowship and personal stories as well.

I know Everyone that Knew Him has experienced His warmth kindness and generosity in some personal way.

We are not saying goodbye to our beloved Brother Jose….But rather see you Later in Heaven.
