March 20, 1960 -October 26, 2022
Ricky, as known to his immediate family and close friends passed after battling health issues for some time.
He was born in King City, California and grew up in Greenfield, California. Rick loved playing baseball in his youth and continued to be an avid fan of both baseball and football throughout his life.
Famous for his grilling techniques, Ricky was the master of the Tri Tip as well as his own variations of sausages that he blended from inspirations growing up in the Salinas Valley.
From owning his own restaurant to selling real estate, Rick held on to an entrepreneurial spirit that was engrained by his parents and extended family.
We will remember Ricky as a sensitive soul that he masked under a thick skin. Always looking at the humor and laughing at the irreverence of a situation was something you could always count on from Rick.
Rick was preceded in death by his first wife Roxanne Ruiz Benavides who left an indelible void in his heart at an early age. Together they made a family with sons Bobby Benavides and Stevie Ruiz.
He continued to find love and marriage throughout his life and brought his youngest son, Mitchell Benavides into the world. He resided most of his adult life in Glendora, California.
In later years, Rick became a primary companion to his mother. The bond of a mother and son never ends and he will be missed sorely.
He is survived by his children, mother Adelina (Nina) and siblings Linda Rivera, Diane Carattini, Steve Benavides, Cynthia Serrano and Carlos Benavides as well as grandchildren nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
In his final years Rick found love again with his fiancé, Lizz Apodaca Bowers and they shared cherished time together through his final days.
Join us in wishing Ricky a peaceful eternity free of pain and suffering. Rest in Peace.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.OakdaleMortuaryGlendora.com for the Benavides family.
