

Robert (Bob) Lee Muench, age 76, of Altadena, California passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Robert was born in Pomona, California on February 16th, 1947, and lived life with a deep commitment to his loved ones. He is survived by his brother, Richard and Suzanne Muench; sisters-in-law, Madeline Dwyer and Karen Sasaki; brothers-in-law, Stephen Sasaki, Thomas Oshita; nephews and nieces, Richard Sasaki, Stephanie and Steve Harris, Greg and Soo Oshita, Courtney and Eric Higuchi, Kristin and Adam Rand, Eric and Bryanne Muench, Adam and Rachel Muench; grand nephews and nieces, Melanie Harris, Hazel Rand, Milo Rand, and Harper Muench.
Bob grew up in the foothills of Glendora California. When Bob met Beverly Miyamoto, he knew he had found the one. They were married on October 4th, 1980, and she was his best friend, partner, and the true love of his life. Their marriage of 43 years was a testament to their unwavering bond, forged through shared hardships and cherished triumphs. Bob's love for Beverly was steadfast and unwavering.
Bob had a long and successful career with the County of Los Angeles. In 1967, he started working in the Department of Forester & Fire Warden in a temporary position while he attended college. In 1971, Bob became a permanent County employee and immediately made an impact. In 1989 he became a Chief Executive Office (CEO) employee. He was ultimately promoted to Manager, CEO in July 2001 and retired on March 17, 2004. Bob's assignments while working in the CEO for almost 15 years focused on Intergovernmental Relations, Legislation, Budgets, and complex Personnel issues for the County of Los Angeles. Bob was very successful and committed in his work, where he made and enjoyed many lasting friendships.
Bob found solace and contentment in the simplicity of life's pleasures, always enjoying a weekend of river fishing in Mammoth or a day deep sea fishing with his brother and nephews. Bob was an avid golfer and was always excited to spend time outdoors connecting over a game of golf. These activities became an extension of his character, allowing him to connect with the people he loved and the natural world that surrounded him.
Bob left an indelible mark on the lives of those around him. Though he rarely wore his heart on his sleeve, his loyal friendship and unyielding support made him a man to be counted on. Bob's mere presence commanded respect, and his quiet strength served as an inspiration to all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Bob, his memory will endure in the hearts of those who loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of authenticity, loyalty, and the treasured moments shared with his beloved Beverly, family, and friends. Though he may no longer walk among us, he is forever etched in our hearts.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakdale Memorial Park, 1401 S. Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1401 S. Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740. A burial to follow will occur. All whose lives were touched by Bob are welcome to pay their respects and commemorate his remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Bob's name to the Pasadena Heritage or the Japanese American National Museum.
