
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Virgil Smith Sr., who departed this life on July 25, 2024 at the age of 86. He was a cherished husband, loving father, and an inspiring school teacher whose impact was felt by all who knew him.
Born on June 12, 1938, Ronald Virgil Smith Sr. dedicated his life to his family and education. He married his beloved spouse, Shirley C. Smith, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, especially in the pride he took in his children, Ronald Virgil Smith II and Kevin Michael Smith.
As a school teacher, Ronald Virgil Smith Sr. was passionate about shaping young minds. He taught in the Rowland Unified School District for 46 years, where he was known for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his students' success. His legacy in education will live on through the countless students and in many cases, their children whose lives he touched.
Outside of the classroom, Ronald Virgil Smith Sr. enjoyed model and real trains, and he was known for his dry sense of humor. He was a man of strong character, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement to those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley C. Smith; his children, Ronald Virgil Smith II and Kevin Michael Smith; grandchildren, Dakota Smith, Natasha Carothers and Lance Escalara and numerous great grandchildren and a great great grandson; and a community of friends, colleagues, and students who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held on August 30, 2004 at 11am PST at Oakdale Mortuary and Memorial Park in Glendora CA..
Ronald Virgil Smith Sr.’s presence in our lives was a gift, and though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
