Mom came to this country in search of a fulfilling life. She slept on park benches upon arriving to California an indication of her determination to not only survive, but to get ahead. She met and subsequently married Jorge H. Castro, Sr. on December 6, 1969. Unfortunately, she was widowed just shy of their 17 year wedding anniversary.
Shortly thereafter she attended classes to become a United States citizen. She graduated and became a U.S. citizen, something that she was very proud of accomplishing.
Mom was a friendly person. She made friends and they certainly adored her. She did travel and was blessed to have been able to return to the land of her nativity and two occasions.
Mom didn’t know how to quit. She didn’t walk out on anyone and would give what she could to help those in need even if it meant she herself would go without. She did what she had to do to survive.
She was a foster mother for a time. She is remembered by some of her foster children as a giving woman who not only opened her home, but her heart.
Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jorge and Denise, her son and daughter-in-law Milton and Cynthia, her sons Jaime, Erwin, and Danny, her grandchildren Christian, David, Rebecca, Andres, Alina, Ian, Rachel and Paige, and great grandson Forest.
Her sons were her life. She adored her friends. She was a wonderful mother, a gracious mother-in-law, and a loving grandmother. She will be missed.
