Timothy Young, 77, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025 in Los Angeles, CA. He was born on November 12, 1948 in Menlo Park, CA and lived a life defined by devotion to family, meaningful work, and a true love for lifelong learning and helping others.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Karen; as well as his four children, Timothy, Colin, Alex, and Katelyn, and 10 grandchildren. Of all Tim’s many life accomplishments, there was nothing he was more proud of than his family. He loved hosting family and friends for backyard barbecues, for which he famously became known as the grill master.
Tim dedicated his career to irrigation and agriculture, with a lifelong focus on sustainable water practices. Through his work, he helped farmers across the world steward their land more responsibly, leaving a lasting impact on communities and the environment alike. He believed deeply in thoughtful problem-solving and in doing work that mattered.
Outside of his career, Tim found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved spending countless hours tending to his garden. His yard—especially his many Japanese maple trees—was a reflection of his patience, care, and appreciation for quiet beauty.
Those who knew Tim will remember him for his incredible courage, strength, resilience and the pride he took in both his work and his family. His legacy lives on through the people he loved and the values he passed down to all he knew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey May Martin and Raymond Hart Young as well as his brother Raymond Nelson Young.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 30th, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, in Upland, California.
