A Life of Warmth, Adventure, and Family
Yvonne Marie Bevans, born Yvonne Theisen on June 1, 1946, began her journey in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, the beloved daughter of Adolphe Theisen and Marie Petesch. From the very start, Yvonne’s life was woven with the joyful presence of her brothers, Robert and Paul. Their days were spent exploring the countryside, chasing sunlight across meadows, and laughing together during their endless summers on the farm — moments that planted the seeds for Yvonne’s lifelong passion for gardening and nature.
Her early years in Luxembourg were filled with curiosity and wonder, as she attended Belair School and grew into a young woman who valued learning and community. Later, Yvonne’s spirit of adventure led her across the Atlantic to study at Citrus College in the United States, forging the foundation for a successful 20-year career in banking. She was known for her dedication, integrity, and the gentle encouragement she gave to colleagues and customers alike.
It was in her homeland, during a time of change, that Yvonne met Daniel Covey, an American soldier stationed in Luxembourg. Their love story took her to California, where she embraced her new life and welcomed her son, Tyson Scott Covey, into the world. Though her marriage to Daniel eventually ended, Yvonne’s openness to new beginnings remained undiminished. She later found her soulmate in Donald Bevans, whose kindness and steady presence brought comfort and joy. With Donald, Yvonne’s family blossomed further, as she warmly welcomed Dons’ three daughters: Rebecca Juarez, Katherine Amidan, and Christy Kimball, forming a loving blended family.
Family was always at the heart of Yvonne’s world. She cherished each of her children, and her love multiplied as she became a grandmother and great-grandmother to a lively clan of 30—two from Tyson, and 28 from her adored stepdaughters and their families. Every holiday and family gathering was enriched by her laughter and the stories she shared around the table.
Yvonne’s adventurous spirit truly became the stuff of legend among family and friends. She approached every journey with fearless enthusiasm, eager to discover the wonders the world had to offer. One especially cherished chapter in her travels unfolded during a memorable visit to England with her friend Darlene. As ever the dedicated gardener, Yvonne was captivated by the country’s spectacular landscapes and vibrant botanicals, often lingering in gardens to chat with fellow enthusiasts or share stories with friendly shopkeepers.
Yvonne’s curiosity soon blossomed into a fascination with Korean culture. This passion inspired her to embark on a legendary trip to South Korea with her dear friend Silvie.
Yvonne delighted in exploring ancient churches, castles and countrysides, sampling new foods, and marveling at all the unique cultures and social landscapes. What she cherished most, however, was connecting with people from all walks of life. Whether swapping travel tales with a local vendor or forging friendships in unexpected places, Yvonne left a trail of warmth and laughter wherever she went, embodying the openness and joy that defined her remarkable journey.
Her ability to forge deep bonds was evident to all who knew her. Tyson recalls, “Mom had a way of making everyone feel heard and valued—her hugs could melt your worries away.” Rebecca shares, “Yvonne’s stories brought us together, no matter how far apart we were. She was the heart that kept our family beating strong.” Even friends would say, “Yvonne made strangers feel like old friends. She had a kindness that reached beyond words.”
On December 12th, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband, Donald, and her cherished children—Tyson, Rebecca, Kathy, and Christy—Yvonne peacefully departed this world. Her legacy is carried on by all those whose lives she touched: Donald, her brothers Paul and Robert Theisen, her children and grandchildren, and the many friends she made along the way. Yvonne’s exuberant spirit, her boundless love, and her unforgettable warmth will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered by all.
