Cody Daniel Crim, born July 11, 1989 in Grand Coulee, Washington, lost his battle with kidney and liver failure on November 11, 2025 at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane Washington. He was surrounded by his loving family in his last hours.
Cody started out as a shy and reserved little boy who loved Power Rangers, Spiderman, Ninja Turtles and loved playing along with his toy guitar to Raffi. As a young man he enjoyed karate and participated in many competitions. Cody’s lively and vivacious personality began to emerge once he started high school. He was surrounded by a large group of friends who remained close to him throughout his short life. Some of their adventures were recorded for posterity and are still available on YouTube: search Ninja Rangers Zero 2. While attending Lake Roosevelt High School, he excelled at track and participated in football. He graduated in 2007 and went on to attend Eastern Washington University. He made the Dean’s list in 2012. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in science and geology. Cody’s kind and gentle heart was made for teaching. He taught middle school science at Shaw Middle School for many years in Spokane.
Cody is well known for his sense of humor, love of animals, adventurous nature and his love of playing music. He enjoyed snowboarding, rollerblading, disc golf, anything active when his body was moving. He was also known to make dangerous choices like doing back flips off his parents roof as a teenager. Cody's interest in magic and performing came from watching David Blaine and Chris Angel. He studied card tricks for hours on end and always made a big show when the trick was perfected and loved performing them for family, friends or really anyone passing by.
Another great passion of Cody’s was music. One of his most favorite things was attending concerts. The more screaming the better. But beyond listening to music his greatest passion was performing it. In recent years he formed a band called A Day on Earth and enjoyed playing live shows around the area including The Pin in downtown Spokane. The band released two albums, a few singles and several music videos.
Cody was a rare sort of man whose kind heart and infectious smile would light up any room. That often meant he was rarely without a pretty girl on his arm. However, the true love of his life was his beloved dog, Hunter and his cat Odin.
We could not write his story without acknowledging his tenacious spirit for pranks. At this time we feel it entirely appropriate to acknowledge that Cody Crim was responsible for the crop circles in the Wilbur area that appeared in June of 2007.
Cody was an amazing man who was so full of life. Our hearts will never recover from the loss of such a son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He is survived by his parents Vern and Deb Crim, brother Connor (Megan) Crim, and a very large circle of loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
