

Mrs. Sasscer was a homemaker for 59 years.
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women; the Glenwood Ruritan Club; and past President of Glenwood PTA.
Survivors include her sons and their spouses: Carroll, Jr. and Georgia Sasscer of Waynesville, NC; Gene and Debbie Sasscer of Knoxville, TN; a daughter and her spouse: Debbie and George Akers of Augusta, GA; a daughter-in-law: Sandy Sasscer of Greeneville; grandchildren and their spouses: Mandy Sasscer of Greeneville; Jake Sasscer of Greeneville; Lisa Sasscer of Knoxville; Kristie and Dean Ray of Knoxville; Maevelin and Scott Ybanez of Waynesville, NC; Kate and Jake Rider of Cashiers, NC; Caroline Akers of Augusta, GA; Samantha and Greg Westover of Charlottesville, VA; Kristy Sims of DeQueen, AR; Anthony and Lou-Ene Sasscer of Ft. Hood, TX; ten great grandchildren: Taylor and Madison Ray; Logan, Harley and Levi Ybanez; Tyler and Toby Rider; Colin Ricker, Kara Ricker and Mason Garber; sisters: Berts Hugel and her husband, Don of Maryland; Clara Margaret Walsh of Greeneville; Jane Saunders of Maryland; a brother: Russell Garner of Maryland; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Charles and Mary Sasscer of Bushwood, MD; Aubrey and Kathy Sasscer of Palm Coast, FL; Glenn and Opal Sasscer of Toledo, OH; Barbara Scott of Ft. Thomas, KY; Ellen Seekford of Upper Marlboro, MD; Doris and Clay Searles of Arkansas.
She was the daughter of the late Roy and Florence Garner and was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Sasscer; two sons: Doyle Wayne Sasscer and Alan Dale Sasscer; and two brothers: Jim Garner and Henry Garner.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, July27. 2010, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Fain will officiate. Inerment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hensley, Jackie Wilhoit, Don Henry, Ronnie Colyer, Alan Broyles, Donald Ray Inscore. Honoraray pallbearers will be members of the Kathleen Hutton Sunday School Class.
The family extended a special "thank you" to the Staff of Amedysis Hospice Service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
