

She was of the Baptist faith and attended church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed singing hymns in church, as well as taking her children to church along with her late husband, Guy Dean Dixon. She enjoyed reading her Bible.
Bertha will be remembered for her beautiful smile and giving heart. She was from the Cedar Creek community and the daughter of the late Edward and Pet Waddell.
In 1953, she married Guy Dean Dixon. They had 57 years together. They had nine children. The family then purchased a farm and grew tomatoes, tobacco and peppers for over five decades. Bertha enjoyed picking strawberries and blueberries. She also enjoyed canning vegetables and making apple butter. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In Bertha’s declining health her caregivers were Carolyn Dixon, Teresa Hawk and family.
Bertha is survived by nine children: Carolyn Dixon, Kathy Bailey, Vickie (Earl) Bailey, Mary Dixon Cutshaw, Michael (Deborah) Dixon, Teresa (Brian) Hawk, Pamela Gail Dixon, Timothy Dixon, and Travis Dixon and fiancée, Michelle Hayes; fourteen grandchildren: Tracy Foshie, Marcus Foshie, Bobby Lynn Whitaker, Jr., Jason (Bridget) Bailey, Anthony (Heather) Bailey, Chris (Annie) Bailey, Rachel (Ted) Mohler, Crystal (Jeff) Mundey, Brandon (Jamie) Bailey, Candace Duncan, Tiffany (Sy) Mason, Cilicia (Barry) Schollterbeck, Chase Dixon, and Victoria Dixon; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters: Joann Wheeler, Brenda Aldridge, and Besslene Crum; two brothers: Cletus Waddell and Clyde Waddell; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bertha was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karen Beth Bailey; grandson, Casey Dixon; great grandson, Creed Bailey; sons-in-law: Jerry Bailey and Ken Cutshaw; three brothers: Roy Waddell, Jack Waddell and Leonard Waddell and a sister, Lorene Stills.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with entombment to follow in the GreeneLawn Chimes Mausoleum. The Rev. Jim Fillers and Charles Erwin will officiate.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
