Carroll Collins

Carroll Lynn Collins, age 78, of the Cedar Creek community, lifelong member of Cedar Creek Church of God, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Signature Health Care facility where he had been a resident for the past four years.

Although handicapped from birth, Carroll loved helping his parents on the farm and being outdoors. He delighted in his accomplishments and mastered most everything he did. He was our family babysitter, lawncare, gardener, and farmer. He learned to cook by watching his mother and could make one of the best “Upside Down Pineapple Cakes” you would ever eat. But his most important job was making sure the church bell was rung every Sunday morning and that he had enough ushers to collect the offering.

Carroll cherished his family, friends and church family which filled his life with love and laughter. There will forever be a hole in our hearts but a smile on our faces knowing he is in the arms of our Saviour.

In his passing he left behind four sisters: Katrina Brown, Fawn Westmoreland (Mitchell), Gail Kiker (Martin) and Jody Johnson; special nieces: Gena McCandless, Alona Chastain, Angie Lane, Lindsey Reeves and Nephew, Jason Shelton as well as several great nieces and nephews: Christopher McCandless, Sheena McCandless, Michael McCandless, Trent Landreth, Eli Reeves, Avery Reeves and Amara Shelton; great great nephews: Zane McCandless, Jayden McCandless and great great niece Anna Lane and Sofia McCandless.

He was preceded in death by is parents: David A. (Sam) and Kathleen (Waddell) Collins; brothers-in-law: Richard C. Brown and Wesley D. Johnson; grandparents: David and Frances Waddell and Elmer and Grace Collins.

There will be no formal visitation however, there will be a graveside service Saturday, May 23 at 1:00 pm at Cedar Creek Cemetery with Rev. Jim Fillers officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at Victory Church of God on Saturday, May 23th at 2:30 pm following the service.

Pallbearers will be brother-in-law Martin Kiker and nephews: Jason Shelton, Chris McCandless, Michael McCandless, Trent Landreth, Seth Reeves and Franklin Lane.
