He had worked for Whites Grocery Store in Towne Square Shopping Center from his high school graduation until it was sold to Food City, where he continued to work for five years, later retiring from White's Fresh Foods.
Mr. Harris attended Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Bonnie Fox Harris; two daughters: Rebecca Harris of Thompson Station and Jennifer Harris of the home; sister: Maxine Murray; aunt: Myrtle Freshour; nieces and nephews, including special nieces: Donna Smith and family and Cindy Fletcher; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: J. D. and Sue Fox, Eileen Bible, and Katherine Myers.
He was preceded in death by his father: James Harris; mother and step-father: Hazel Harris Jeffers and George Jeffers; a daughter: Kimberly Harris; a brother: Worley Harris; and a sister: Josephine Phillips.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Men of Faith at Mt. Hebron UM Church.
