

Don was born on June 30, 1939 in Greene County and lived in the Newmansville Community his entire life.
He was a graduate of Baileyton High School and was an EMT for the Greeneville/Greene County EMS and rescue squad for many years. He worked at Franklin Furniture prior to working for the EMS.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Grace White; his parents, Lawrence and Clyde White; a sister, Ruth Dinwiddie, and brother-in-law, Glen Dinwiddie; brother-in-law, Bobby Strong; sister-in-law, Glenda Bird; nephew, Jack Aiken; and great-niece, Kayla Cody.
He is survived by a sister, Rose Strong; brothers-in-law, Bobby Bird and Sammy Bird(Charline); a special niece, LeAnn Aiken; A special nephew, Todd Bird(Kim); special great-nieces; Jaclyn Davis(Sam), Haylee Bird, and Brittany Tipton(Jimmy); special great-nephews, Justin Aiken(Haley), Jacob Bird, and Bobby Gregg(Nikki) and children; special great-great-nieces, Jaelyn and Jurnee Aiken; special cousins, Sandra Dunn, Mark Dunn, and Steve White; and a special friend, Patricia Wattenbarger.
The family will receive friends 12-2pm Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2pm in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel, officiated by Rev. Sam Smith, Rev. Dale Mitchell, and Rev. Dolphus Cutshaw.
Interment will follow at Union Temple Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mark Dunn, Raymond Britton, Jackson Britton, Todd Bird, Jacob Bird, Justin Aiken, and Sam Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers are Steve White and the past and present employees of Greeneville/Greene County EMS.
The family extends thanks to the many caregivers and medical professionals who assisted with Don’s care over the past year.
