

She was retired from Magnavox in 1982 after 28 years of service. Then she became a foster grandparent at the Children’s Center in 1988 and worked there thru January of this year. Over the years she has won numerous volunteer awards including the Blanch Grady Award in 2002. Mrs. Henderson was also assistant chaplain for the Foster Grandparent Program. She has spoken for and recited her poetry at many fund raisings and on occasion was an invited spokesperson for the United Way. She has penned three books of poetry and her hobbies included oil painting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and working on her computer.
She attended Greeneville High School and in later years, took computer classes at ETSU.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of the Greeneville First Free Will Baptist Church, was baptized and joined the church on February 11th , 1934.
She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, she is also survived by: two daughters: Delores Smith of Greeneville and Nancy Waddell of Creston, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and twelve great great grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Monroe F. and Gaye Jones Bralley and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Henderson; a daughter, Barbara Yount; one grandchild and two great grandchildren; and two sons-in-law, Robert G. Smith and Bob Waddell.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Ted Reynolds, Rev. John Buchanan will officiate and Larry Henderson will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will follow at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James “Buddy” Randolph, Larry Henderson, Mike Myers, Matt Myers, and John Buchanan.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Caris Hospice, Kathy Myers and the Foster Grandparent Program, the teachers and staff of the Children’s Center, Art Maskers, Betty Cook, United Way staff, members of the Greeneville First Free Will Baptist Church, Betty Weems, all past and present recipients of the Blanch Grady Award, Dr. Andy Roberts, Dr. Mandeep Bakshi, Dr. Mark Patterson, and Angela Johnson, FNP.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
