

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, chemistry, and physics from Tusculum College and a master’s degree in educational administration and statistics from the University of Tennessee.
He served in the U.S. Navy for three years.
Mr. Renner was a basketball coach at St. James High School in 1946 and principal at Ottway High School, where, as well as at Greeneville High School, he taught math and science. He also was a 6th-8th grade teacher at DeBusk Elementary School.
He worked in the insurance and real estate business for 21 years and operated the Brook-Glen Farm Supply feed store for 21 years, retiring in 1996. Mr. Renner was a Greene County Commissioner for seven years and a state representative, 1965-66. He was a member of the Kinser Park Commission for about 28 years. He was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Gladys Brooks Renner; daughters and sons-in-law: Glenna and Butch Hicks and Joan and Al Romanowski; grandchildren: Kris Lucchesi and husband John of Johnson City, Cy Hawk of Greeneville, and Whitney Comer and husband Brent of Conway, South Carolina; step grandchildren: Chris and Jamie Hicks, Ben and Kristen Hicks, and Phil and Arlene Hicks; great grandchildren: John Lucchesi IV, Taylor Hawk, and Kara Lucchesi; step great grandchildren: Rylee, Tyler, and Cooper Hicks and Clara Hicks; sisters and brother-in-law: Catherine and Bob Brown and Marie Harmon; brothers-in-law: Buck Jones and J. C. Brooks; sisters-in-law: Elsie Creamer, Mary Waddle, and Christine Brooks; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Dana and Lula Renner and was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Jones; brothers-in-law: Elbert Creamer, Ralph Brooks, and Walter Harmon; and a sister-in-law: Sue Brooks.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stewart Albee officiating.
Interment will be at 11am Wednesday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens . Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:30am Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the U. S. Navy Military Honors Team will conduct a military graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Cy Hawk, John Lucchesi III, Brent Comer, Charles Jones, Bobby Brown, and Wade Harrison.
