Harley B. Gunter

He was an asphalt plant superintendent for 34 years for Marion Paving Company of Marion, Indiana.

Mr. Gunter was a member of Pathways Church of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Local 103 Operating Engineers.

He was a faithful husband to Marlene for 60 years, a devoted father of six children, as well as a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Bobby and Lisa Gunter of Midway, Kathy and Terry Bougher of Dandridge, Brenda and Pat Brooks of Church Hill, Davie W. Gunter and Teresa Carter of Church Hill, Carla Gunter West of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Carl Gunter of Knoxville; fourteen grandchildren: Lesa Vornehm, Anna Carson, Jeremy Gunter, David M. Gunter, Amber Barnes, Dawn Dukes, Wesley Holloway, Michael Holloway, Sarenda Sewell, Travis Gunter, Bruce Gunter, Brandon Githens, Bradley Githens, and April Gunter; 26 great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Grover and Betty Gunter of Greeneville and Walter and Carolyn Gunter of Limestone; sister: Patsy Gunter of Greeneville; sister-in-law: Marie Gunter of Greeneville; and other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Delbert Conner, Harvey Conner, Nellie Dodd, and Willa May Conner of Greeneville.

He was the son of the late David Manuel and Pearlie Mae Gunter and was preceded in death by his wife: Marlene Gunter; two brothers: Garland Gunter and Floyd Gunter and his wife Nellie; half sister and brother-in-law: Trula May and Donald Cronk; two sisters: Bettie Jo Martin and Rebakate Belt and her husband, Clyde; and a great grandson: Justin A. Holloway.

The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Pat Freeman and Rev. Jerry Hopson officiating.

Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Gunter, David M. Gunter, Mark Dukes, Pat Brooks, Terry Bougher, David W. Gunter, Wesley Holloway, Carl Gunter, and Tony Gunter.
