He was a member of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 58 years, where he served as an elder and church treasurer.
He was also a member of the Consumer Credit Union Board of Directors for forty nine years, and a former Greene County Election Commissioner for many years. A retired employee of the Magnavox Company/North American Philips, he worked with local Boy Scouts and was a Little League basketball coach for several years. He was also a mason, and a member of the Greene County YMCA and Link Hills Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. The father of five children and ten grandchildren, he established a cherished holiday tradition of personally making more than 700 cookies to send home with his children and their families after the annual gathering.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Margaret Sue Thompson Andrew; three sons: David (Sally) Andrew and Merrill (Vickie) Andrew of Greeneville and Lowell (Teresa) Andrew of Morristown; two daughters: Teresa (Rich) Safronik and Barbara (Gregg) Wiles of Atlanta, Georgia; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters; Roberta Gipe of Columbia City, Indiana, Mary Brickey of Florida and Marcella Mart of Point Isabel, Indiana; two sisters-in-law: Donna Andrew of Arizona and Ferdonna Wakeland of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Harold was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first great-great grandchild in August.
He was preceded in death by his parents: J. Fred and Bernice Andrew; one granddaughter: Kelly Andrew; four brothers: Dean, Lee, Glenn and Tommy Andrew; and two sisters: Dorothy Willer and Pauline Stout.
The family will receive friends at Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 5 – 7 pm Saturday, June 15, 2019.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at 7 pm with the Rev. Jamie Lively officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Robert Andrew, John Cauthen, Brian Cauthen, Andrew Wiles, and Tyler, Kylian and Keefer Andrew.
