

He was a farmer, a road construction worker, and served as road commissioner of 22nd District for 12 years.
Jimmy was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
Mr. Gunter served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years: Lynnis Jean Gunter; daughter and son-in-law: Penny and Frank Carson of Midway, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Cody and Mariah Britton; two step grandchildren: Haley Carson and Justin Bowman; sister: Geraldine Stills; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Jo and Vestal Watts of Afton and Johnny Gunter of Newport; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was the son of the late Richard and Maggie Kelley Gunter and was preceded in death by a brother: Bennie Gunter; half brother: Billy Wilhoit; and brother-in-law: Rev. J. B. Stills.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for the funeral service.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Gethsemane United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Joe Miller and Owen Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
His pallbearers are Rex Hopson, Jay Lynn Stills, David Fillers, Alfred Hall, Michael Moncier, Curtis Myers, Ronnie Watts, and Ryan Watts.
The Laura Ricker Sunday School Class of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, V.A. Medical staff of Mountain Home, employees of Laughlin Home Health and Laughlin Health Care, staff of ICU at Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Joe Austin, Dr. Stephen Flohr, and Linda and Willie Beach will serve as honorary pallbearers.
