Jimmy attended Shelton Mission Church when his health permitted.
Jimmy was married to Jane, his loving wife on June 10th, 1961. Jane preceded Jimmy in death just 7 months ago, after they celebrated their 54th anniversary together.
He retired from Plus Mark, former Archers, in 2001, after over 40 years of service. Jimmy was well loved by his fellow workers for his kindness and mischievous spirit.
Jimmy was always on the go, loved to golf with his golfing buddies, often playing 54 holes of golf in one day, during his early retirement. When Jimmy wasn’t golfing, he would have a fishing rod in hand spending time with his family and friends.
Family, friends, and his faith in God were the most endearing part of Jimmy’s life. His love for God, wife, daughter, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters, along with his nieces and nephews were a driving force in his purpose driven life. Jimmy was a jokester. When he was told on occasions that he was looking good, his response was always, “Well I can’t help that”, grinning from ear to ear.
Jimmy will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Janie and Andrew Novak; grandson: Whitney Fender; granddaughter and husband: Samantha and Kyle Robinson; grandson and wife: John and Elliot Novak; great grandsons: Kade Robinson and Crosby Novak; brother: Jerry Hopson; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Jack Neas, along with a special neighbor, Jean Gray.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Jane, his parents Nick and Mittie Hopson; his sisters: Pat Mercer, Betty Jones, Glenna Jones, and Mary Ruth Reaves; and his brothers: Jack and Ray Hopson.
Pallbearers are Jack Neas, Bob Hopson, Guy Hopson, Steve Jones, Doug Jones, Eddie House, Randy Hawk, Lyndell Hopson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy’s golf and fishing “buddies”.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with the funeral service at 8:00 PM at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Hopson and Rev. Jim Fillers will be officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 am Tuesday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens, where the 10:00 graveside service will be held.
