Josephine E. Smelcer

Mrs. Smelcer retired from Magnavox. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was also a member of Faith Sunday School and the Young at Heart.

Her friends recognized her as a loving and kind person who will truly be missed.

She was survived by one niece, one nephew, her dinner friends: Carmen Crum, Ruby Jean Hartman, and Joan Baskett; and her volunteer friends: Rose Seller, Hilda Shelton, and Mary Sue Brakebill.

She was the daughter of the late Jim and Mollie Hux Smelcer and was preceded in death by five sisters: Gladys Smelcer and Willie Smelcer of the home, Bessie Easterly and Aleen Vuck of Indiana, and Frances Smelcer of Dayton, Ohio; and one brother: Dave Smelcer of Dayton, Ohio.

There will be a receiving of friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Greene and Rev. Doyle Pruett officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim McKinney, Hugh Bowman, Chester Riddle, Jim Deaton, Phil Easterly, and Tony Randall.

Honorary pallbearers are Charles Dawson, Dr. Keith Susong, and volunteers of Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
