

Mr. Hopson operated Hopson's Grocery in the Greystone community for many years and retired from First Tennessee Human Resources Agency in 1998.
He was a member of Greystone Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Hopson served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955.
He was an avid fan of bluegrass music and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years: Sandra Hopson; two sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Teresa Hopson and Tim and Leisa Hopson; a daughter and son-in-law: Robyn and Dudley Myers; grandchildren: Jacob Hopson and fiancée, Amanda Nuckols, Cory Hopson and wife, Amanda, Michael Hopson, and Jamie Bess and husband, Shawn, of Surfside, S.C.; great-grandchildren: Coleman and Carson Bess; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Dean Bowman, Faye and Reed Harrison, Gail and Jack Ayers, and Phyllis and Dr. Dave Saylor; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Rex and Nadine Hopson, and Wayne Hopson; a sister-in-law: Jane Fletcher of Greensboro, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dog: Buddy.
He was the son of the late Dave and Carrie Bowman Hopson and was preceded in death by a son, Steven Andrew Hopson; two sisters: Pearl Madison and Ina Hopson; and two brothers: Kaye Hopson and Blaine Hopson.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greystone FWB Church with interment in the Greystone Cemetery. The Rev. Roger Stocton will officiate.
The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jacob, Cory and Michael Hopson, and nephews: Donnie Wright, Jim Fletcher, and Mike Hopson.
The family expressed a special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
