
She had retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center.
Mrs. Mercer was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mercer had several hobbies including scrap booking, keeping the family history and
keeping extensive records regarding the family’s important events in their lives. She also
enjoyed making quilts and sewing for her much loved grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Gene and Jean Mercer of Telford; Ray and Linda Mercer of Rincon, GA;
a daughter and son-in-law: Joanne and Roy Nevils of Sevierville; three grandchildren: James Calvin Mercer of O’Fallon, IL; Angela Nevils Harris of Mr. Pleasant, SC; and Deborah Mercer Young of Maui, HA; three great grandchildren: Chandler Mercer, Aiden Young, and Alyssa Young; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Weldon and Mary Mercer, Paul and Pat Mercer.
She was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Mary Ellen Ricker Foley and was preceded in death by her husband, James Dawson Mercer; one brother, Leon Gray; a sister, Rena Gray; and a daughter-in-law, Luzene Mercer.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Joe Miller and Rev. Jerry Hopson will officiate.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at Gethsemane Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
